ade ishs Trio: Contemplation by Jazz

Journalist Iip Yahya has produced a photo news about my trio’s gig on 1 April 2012. It’s in Indonesian, but most of the content are photographs. Here’s my English translation of the intro:

Music is a universal “language”, penetrating various barriers. Music is an expression of the soul, bypassing all limitations. ade ishs Trio are three integrating elements: Indonesia-Australia-Japan. ade on the piano, Chelsea Allen beating the drums, dan Daigo Nakai plucking the bass. That afternoon, 1 April 2012, at Open Studio, Northcote, Melbourne, the three presented harmony: beautiful, dynamic, and sublime. In the hands of ade ishs, composer of the pieces for the group, music has become a contemplation device: about birth, weather and atmosphere, human diversity, happiness, inspiring places. With contemplation, an exhausted soul can take a brief recess to rejuvenate. And ade ishs Trio’s music offers gentle freshness. Dynamic but not pounding. For weary “travellers”, ade ishs Trio’s jazz presentation is a refreshing place to stop by.
